FoI: Developing Personalised Services (20 Jan 2010)
Developing Personalised Services
20th January 2010, 11am-12.30pm
Glasgow
In overview of the journey Scottish Borders is currently undertaking to develop the short breaks service to ensure it is built around increasing people’s choice and control by improving access to information support and advice, increasing the uptake of the flexible short breaks service in certain groups where there has been poor uptake to date, developing more creating approaches and options for people and increasing the knowledge base of the team, ensuring that this information is clearly accessible to all members of the public through development of a dynamic website.
Calling The Shots was set up in direct response to the outcomes of a review of day support services that identified the need for people who use services, and people affected by services to be more involved in shaping these services. Training of staff was seen as a key component in improving services and the Scottish Borders Council Social Work department decided that people who use services should be at the heart of designing and delivering that training. The presentation will chart the journey of CTS and give an insight into the unique contribution a person using a service can bring to training and in turn shaping the service that they and others receive.
Places are limited to 30 and are available on a first come first served basis.
