Festival of Ideas: Care and Support or a Fascist Plot? (28 Oct 2009)
28th October 2009, 10am-12noon
Glasgow
Norma Curran, Values into Action, will begin with a presentation outlining the background to systematic instruction (enabling the provision of disabled people with a range of skills training which lead to inclusion in the world of work and community living settings).
This will be followed by an exercise where participants will be given a variety of instructions on how to complete a model task. A demonstration will then take place with a consultant learner (someone with a learning disability who has agreed to perform the task in front of the group who will be paid for their time as a consultant). There will then be discussion around people’s experience of the task and impressions of the demonstration. The session will close with the values and principles of systematic instruction.
Places are limited to 15 and are available on a first come first served basis.
