Festival of Ideas: SDS – What’s That All About Then? (22 Oct 2009)
22nd October 2009, 10.30am-12.00noon
Glasgow
The Discovery Group (a collective advocacy group for people who use Quarriers Disability services) will present this workshop through personal stories, research results and group discussion.
The stories will focus on the service users historical and more recent experiences of “directing” their own support and look at what they think the new SDS initiative could mean for them.
The workshop will also explore some recent research which the Disability Group undertook with the Learning Disability Alliance Scotland and examine some of the findings.
Finally, small groups will look at the myths and realities of Direct Payment Schemes and try to identify and share opportunities and potential solutions which may enable SDS to become a viable option for more people.
Places are limited to 15 and are available on a first come first served basis.
