Partnership Working with Glasgow Social Work

While faced with the current challenging and uncertain economic situation, it is more important than ever to ensure that there are good working relationships between providers and commissioners in order to continue delivering best value social care.

The existence of the Forum has allowed the development of improved, more productive relationships between The Council and providers and will lead to an increasingly shared vision for the support of service users.

– Glasgow Social Work, Service Modernisation

Throughout the year the Forum has engaged well with Glasgow City Council in developing a protocol which would allow providers to influence processes relating to procurement and contract management. Joint working to reduce bureaucracy and duplication in systems will ultimately pay dividends for services and service users.

The Partnership Commitment

Last year, the Heads of Glasgow Social Work, Modernisation and Children’s and Families Departments sent out a letter (.doc) confirming that all future provider correspondence, consultancy and development work would be routed through our Forum.

Examples of Key Partnership Work:

  • Increased working relationships between GSCPF & Glasgow Social Work Teams
  • GSCPF is recognized as the primary route by which Glasgow Social Work collectively communicates, consult and engage with providers.
  • GSCPF represented on Glasgow Social Work Individualised Budget Steering Group
  • Presentations to GSCPF members i.e. E-Tendering, CCCMG.
  • Joint planning, development and launch of a dedicated Provider sub group within Glasgow Social Work’s CCCMG, a developmental sub group to discuss and make recommendations on commissioning and contracting practice.
